Guest：Stayed a couple nights here on recent trip to CR primarily focused on wildlife photography and this location certaunly delivered in abundance . On site and short drives away yileded great photography opportunities of a varielty of birds and mammals . Acoomodation is best described as adequate but basic and served the purpose. Certainly worth a visit if you want to some greast photo opportunities of the local wildlife.
Guest：As a photographer Laguna Del Lagarto is probably the best lodge I have visited. Everything is set up with photography in mind - from the beautiful feeding perches close to the deck with a distant background to the numerous workshops that they offer. I did the macro session with frogs and snakes, a visit to their King Vulture hide, a bat photography session and a hummingbird photography session. For both the bats (on site) and the hummingbirds (about 1 km offsite) they provided a multi flash setup and instruction on settings. All of the sessions were fantastic and the staff (especially Adolfo and Domingo) were incredibly helpful and accommodating even though I didn’t have a car to get to the offsite locations. The bird visits to the feeder were frequent and diverse especially during the early mornings and late afternoons. A couple of things to be aware of :- - It is far easier if you have a car and next time I will rent one. - It is hot and humid. The rooms are basic but functional. They could improve by having some comfortable chairs to hang out in the deck area. - Bring bug spray especially for the evenings and after any rain. It wasn’t mosquitoes but small black flies that you didn’t even notice biting you. - the food was simple and delicious Overall I loved my stay and wouldn’t hesitate to go back again.

Guest：Een paar kilometer verder van maquenque maar een paradijs voor vogel fotografie. Het hotel is vrij simpel maar wel afdoende. Kamer/badkamer niet groot, geen airconditioning maar is ook niet nodig, wel fans. Het restaurant heeft zicht op de vallei en vogels, de (vaste) maaltijden zijn eenvoudig maar wel goed en niet te duur. Veel excursie mogelijkheden voor vogelaars maar die zijn niet goedkoop. De sfeer is overigens heel relaxt. Er was wat verwarring achteraf over de kosten van o.a. excursies maar dat is goed opgelost.
