  • Guest：We travelled with family and friends in a group of 13 pax. We chose Ryokan Seiryu because of its location. It is just less than a hour bus ride to the famous Shirakawa-go unesco heritage site. The ryokan is also just 5-10 min walk from the Takayama station, and also mins from the Takayama old town. There are plenty of restaurants nearby as well. Takayama is known for its Hida beef so you’ll find it at most restaurants. If you choose the all inclusive meal plan at Ryokan Seiryu, you’ll get to indulge in Hida beef in all meals. Something which we truly enjoyed in our stay there. The family room we booked were spacious and can easily accommodate 4 pax. The hotel may be a bit dated but it has the look and feel of a typical Japanese ryokan, which is something we were looking forward to. Rooms has all the amenities you need and service was exceptional. Right from the front desk to the server serving our meals. Special thanks to Maki. She was truly helpful and friendly. All in all, my friends and family really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and wished we could have stayed longer. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a ryokan experience in a traditional and serene town.
  • Guest：We spent two nights in a spacious suite at this lovely ryokan in central Takayama. The facilities were recently renovated and everything was sparkling clean. This charming accommodation had kind and attentive service, large rooms with huge bathrooms and comfortable beds/living area, and an excellent location for exploring Takayama city center on foot. One additional bonus: they have a shuttle to take you to and from the train station! Highly recommend!
  • Guest：The hotel is located 7 minutes' walk from the Takayama train station and bus stop. It is a very nice ryokan. There is an onsen in the same hotel and a bigger one in a nearby hotel (included). Food was great: breakfast is at the second floor while dinner is served at the room. Staff is english speaker and very friendly and our waitress in kimono was very kind and nice. Recommended!
  • Guest：This was our first experience staying at a Ryoken and using an onsen. We loved the experience. The room was quite small and basic but it was exceptionally clean and met all of our needs. The level of service was top notch. I can safely say that I have never experienced that high level of service in my life. We enjoyed both the dinner and breakfast meals they offered. We felt they were good value and an interesting tasty cultural experience. Takayama itself was a beautiful quiet little town that was a welcome break from the intense hyper urban cities we stayed at in Japan. Takayama and Ryokan Seiryu were highlights of our visit to Japan and we enthusiastically recommend them both.
