Guest：Great room with view of gardens and the sea. Excellent ambience. Helpful and friendly staff.
Guest：It was an ok hotel. Built in 1903 and the original features have been maintained as much as possible. But there are something’s that need updating. The carpeting in halls is not in best condition and looks really dirty but probably is more wear than a thing. Room carpeting was better. Lift could use a good clean and some paint. Only tried to use the bar once but they were cleaning the lines and hesitated to even sell a bottle of wine when lines were down. TV remote stopped working and took several attempts to get that sorted. Bed was great though. Shower pressure was great but not that holds hand held shower was cracked and head kept falling. Food was good, however they didn’t have enough staff on to properly serve the number of people in restaurant. Had to wait several evenings for dinner plates to be removed and desert and coffee served. When approached management about it they said they would get to us later. We had already been waiting for over 15 minutes. We would not stay again.
Guest：Stayed at the hotel as part of a package with Caledonian holidays. Hotel was ideally situated for us. A bit of a walk (about 15 min) to the shopping area. We like walking so this was no problem. We had beautiful sea view room. Room was fine, bedding clean, fresh towels every day, good shower. Food was excellent, good variety at breakfast with cereal, juice, fruit, yoghurts and full English. 3 course evening meals were beautiful, nice and hot. We mostly chose fish as our main and they were always cooked well. The staff were amazing, very friendly and service was quick. Lovely little bar and reception area to sit in downstairs. We were on a trip with some less able bodied people who struggled with the few stairs that had to be climbed and the hotel is a bit tired and dated but we would definitely come back.
Guest：On a just go coach holiday,stayed at the hydro in Douglas,rooms were small and very hot but adequate,buffet breakfast and evening meals were great,no complaints there,staff were lovely,had an amazing week !
