Guest：We were a group of several families and Back of Beyond, Kahandamodera was the ideal place for us. It has several cottages scattered throughout the property and we could all meet up in the common areas and the pool and dine together, but whenever we wanted a bit of peace and quiet, we could go to our individual cottages. It rained most of the time we were there, but it did not dampen our spirits as we could really spend time together. The snacks and juices that were constantly provided by the staff and the sumptuous meals also added to our good spirits.
Guest：Spent a very relaxing weekend enjoying Kahandamodara’s wild isolation, the silence broken only by bird calls and the excellent meals provided by a friendly and obliging staff. A special thanks to Mahesh and Chandana who were very attentive.
Guest：A long-planned getaway to withdraw to the heart of nature. BoB properties is just that - the back of beyond! We had a splendid time interacting with the goats on the property and the reward of a fantastic massage - easily one of the best I have had. The meals prepared by Wasantha and served by Chandana are simple but tasty and they do go out of their way to please your requirements. I would strongly recommend the local fare of which most is sourced from their own gardens. The weather gods were a little unkind as it rained all day andthus put paid to our plans of an early-morning boat ride and an evening walk on the private beach. That would have to be on our next visit. There are many trees on the property (most planted by Yohan himself). Not named on purpose as he encourages the guests to be enquiring and seek out the names themselves. A fantastic list of dry zone trees as well as some not-so-common varieties. A tree hugger's delight. Yohan also encourages many butterflies on the property with a whole host of larval and nectar plants. His little jungle patches also encourages birds. We were lucky to see the Slaty-legged crake one evening.
Guest：Beautifully situated spacious accommodation with an extensive adjacent lagoon on which one can partake in traditional fishing charters with locals or just enjoy the ambience. Another nearby lagoon offers incredible diversity in birdlife and our guide was exceptional. Another local trip included nesting turtles at a turtle conservation centre whilst at home a masseur offered marvellous service. We were totally spoiled by the lovely staff and delicious food whilst enjoying this relaxing venue, the Wellness Retreat.
