  • Guest：We stayed here for three nights while on safari and I could have stayed forever. This resort is spectacular. To begin, they bring you in by boat. We transferred from the airport to a tiny little dock, got on a boat and right away we encountered elephants playing in the river. What an introduction to this beautiful country and area. Later that evening we went on a sunset river cruise and our boat steward served up delish snacks and drinks while we spotted hippos, crocs and birds of all kinds. We were in heaven. Our room was gorgeous and the view unmatchable. The resort grounds are so cool. You can roam anywhere you want during the day, and spot elephants, buffalo, antelope, mongoose and monkeys everywhere. One thing that made the stay truly special was our encounter with a spirit. As an avid ghost hunter, I always bring my maglite. One evening a lovely, friendly spirit came to say hi and spoke to us by turning the light on and off as we asked questions. She told us this was her tribes land and she was part of the Shona people. She shared her story with us about the fish in the river that were good to eat (or not), how elephants trampled her garden, and the dangers of crocodiles and night time animal attacks. She shared that she was happy people like us could visit and appreciate the land. It was amazing. I love this resort and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a trip of a lifetime in Victoria Falls.
  • Guest：This is the first place we've stayed that truly defied description, but I will try! We stayed in an Island Treehouse Suite for 3 nights (not long enough) and it was unforgettably magical. There was only one other guest on the island with us for most of our stay which made it feel very exclusive. From the initial greeting with Lisa, to our wonderful interactions with our butler, Reeves, and outstanding excursions with Lancelot, the team went above and beyond to make our time there perfect. Food was exceptional, service was attentive and conversational but discreet, S African wine options were solid, and the room was cozy with a very private deck with river views. All of that while being completely immersed in nature? Unforgettable. Daily hippo sightings and sounds were abundant, game drives were low density with sightings of giraffes, zebras, Cape buffalo, warthogs, baboons and lions (including a thrilling experience of being charged by a new coalition that had just arrived in the area). Lancelot was a kind, engaging, and very knowledgeable guide and was accommodating in quickly shifting our excursion plans based on the weather. We are excited to return for a second visit in the future and look forward to seeing the island property once its renovations are completed later this year. Thank you to Lisa, Reeves, and the entire team for memories that will last a lifetime.

That sense of sincere hospitality continued throughout, A special thanks to our wonderful Restaurant host Valentine, whose attentiveness, professionalism, and natural warmth made us enjoy the great meals even more so. The rooms are beautiful- incredibly spacious, filled with natural light, tastefully decorated, and thoughtfully equipped with everything one could need. Every detail reflects refined comfort and excellent design. The game drive vehicles and boats are very comfortable and luxurious, perfectly suited for enjoying the spectacular surroundings in style. Every excursion felt relaxed & exclusive. We were also very fortunate to spend some time at the beautiful Malachite Tented Suite Lodge. The setting along the Zambezi River is breathtaking. The Lodges Manager Mr Marnix Breitbarth, was so kind and allowed us to take a peek at the suites - and wow. If you are still looking for the perfect honeymoon retreat, look no further - Malachite is the address. Victoria Falls River Lodge (and Malachite) combine luxury, authenticity, and heartfelt service in a truly special way. We left with beautiful memories and a strong desire to return.

The team were incredibly attentive and friendly during our entire stay, with special shout-out to Lancelot who is an incredibly knowledgeable and friendly guide. Our room was magnificent, views are epic and the lodge itself is beyond beautiful. As any safari fan knows, the food is always such an important part and River Lodge didn't disappoint - especially loved the small plates selection for dinner and local produce being featured, made us really know we were in Zimbabwe. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
