  • Guest：Great to get a discount on food and drink at the bar as a resident. Breakfast was lovely. Entertainment on every night with the nightclub underneath. We started in the Sunday for a wedding. We practically all occupied the rooms and sadly it was the one night the club underneath wasn’t on. Great location. Clean room. Ideal for what we needed
  • Guest：The stags head was a wonderful stay for me and my family. In a prime location it was really easy to get around walking with everything you need close by. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was amazing with a good choice. I would give this place a 10/10 if it wasn’t for the uncomfortable mattress which I just think could do with replacing. And that is my only fault I found. Other than that it was brilliant and I would happily take my family back there for another stay. Great value for money.
  • Guest：This was our go to pub while we stayed in Windermere for a week, the pub is disabled friendly and is very spacious and really great bar staff it gets very busy when they show football in various Big telly's also they do great bar snacks and pub grub, the pub is very old and has some great old decor features. The bar staff really made us feel welcome every time we went in for a beer.
  • Guest：Lovely old pub and hotel, right in the heart of Bowness, on a pedestrianised street, opposite the church, and a short walk from the lakeside and lots of shops, bars and restaurants. A large public car park was a 5 minute walk away and we purchased a 3 day pass for ￡21, which was valid in all the other council run car parks in the area, so pretty good value really, and even though we only used it for 2 days, it still saved us money, as we would have spent more than that on the other car parks we used over the weekend. We were staying for a short, 2 night break, to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming - reception, bar staff and breakfast servers alike. The breakfast itself was a freshly cooked to order, full English, or bacon / sausage rolls, plus cereals and toast. Our room was quite spacious, considering the age of the property, with everything we needed for a short stay, including tea and coffee and hair / body wash for the shower. The shower was very hot, as was the water in the sink, so maybe the issues some of the previous reviewers have had, regarding no hot water, have been addressed, or maybe it only affects some rooms? We never ventured down to the nightclub, although it is free entry to residents, plus residents get a discount on food and drinks at the bar too. The live singer / musician on the Saturday night was very good though, and the Karaoke on Sunday night was very entertaining, with a lively and very friendly crowd in there! The free WiFi was very hit and miss in our room, and only seemed to work in the mornings, which was a bit frustrating, especially as the phone signal wasn't very strong either, unless we stood right by the window! Apart from the WiFi, there was nothing else really not to like, other than our room (room 9) being on the front, facing the church, and just above the outside seating area, so was obviously a little noisy when people were outside chatting until quite late at night, which actually only affected us on one of the nights, because it was raining on the other night. But we never heard any music or noise from either the bar or the nightclub. And it was a really lovely room, with a comfortable bed, if a little harder than we prefer, but we both slept well, aside from the outside noise one night. Overall, we had a really enjoyable weekend and we would definitely choose to stay in this hotel again, the next time we visit the area.
