The breakfast was simple but OK, and the pool was a great way to relax and pass the time in the afternoon. The owner was very kind, which made a big difference to our stay and is the main reason I’m giving a 4 out of 5 — otherwise, I would have rated it lower. The room included a basic kitchen, and there was on-site parking available, which was convenient. Shower with hot water worked well. The place looked better in the photos than in real life said, but maybe it was just our room. Worth noting: it's about a 22-minute walk to the entrance of the beach park (from the hotel). From that point, it’s another 30-minute + walk one way to reach the whale’s tail, so be prepared for a bit of a trek if you plan to visit.

Hier 3 nachten 2 kamers geboekt. Ivm hevige regenval was 1 kamer vlak na aankomst overstroomt (lijkt ons dat het vaker hard regent en dit probleem dus bekend had moeten zijn). Dit werd goed opgelost door een vervangende kamer te regelen. Verder beetje dubbel gevoel bij dit hotel. Kamers zijn schoon en hebben goede faciliteiten. Het zwembad was ook fijn. Het personeel doet erg z'n best, dat zie je en merk je. Ze waren alleen erg schuw, wellicht ook ingegeven door de leidinggevende stijl van de eigenaar (maar dat is vanzelfsprekend speculatie). Wij kregen daar in ieder geval geen fijn gevoel bij. We hadden 3 nachten geboekt ivm een dagexcursie naar Corcovado en daarna nog 1 volle dag in Uvita willen bijkomen en relaxen. Achteraf hadden we beter 1 nachtje minder kunnen boeken. Uvita is verder niet echt interessant. We hebben nog de Uvita waterval bezocht (weer véél trappen en hoogteverschil!) maar ja, na 2 weken CR heb je al veel watervallen gezien dus tja, wel leuk maar niet bijzonder. Het park Marino Ballena niet meer bezocht. Het is daar erg rommelig, slechte voorzieningen, veel gedoe en we hadden al gelezen dat het ook niet erg veilig is. Al met al hadden we hier een goed verblijf als uitvalsbasis voor Corcovado.

We werden hartelijk ontvangen door een vriendelijke eigenaar die alles duidelijk uitlegde. We hadden een appartement met balkon geboekt en het voldeed volledig aan onze verwachtingen. Het appartement was zeer ruim en van alle gemakken voorzien. Er was airco in zowel de slaapkamer als de woonkamer, en ook een fijne douche was aanwezig. Een mooi en rustig verblijf. Ik zou het iedereen aanraden die in Uvita verblijft.

This is a lovely little hotel. The owner personally welcomed us. We had an apartment style two bedroom room. It was clean and comfortable. A delicious breakfast was included. If you’re looking for an inexpensive, clean, comfortable room this is a great selection

Es curioso pero para mí lo que más puntos le da a este hotel es que tiene un recepcionista encantador. El desayuno, normal, las habitaciones, normales, a nosotros nos dieron una en la planta baja, que para pasar dos noches no estaba mal, amplia, lo único es que entraban cucarachas, no sé por dónde, pero las había, una salió del ba?o. La zona del jardín, tiene instalado césped artificial y cuando llueve, se acumula agua. El área de recepción tiene un suelo muy poco apropiado, y cuando entras con los pies mojados, te resbalas, yo me caí. Deberían mejorar este aspecto. Es como un peque?o oasis en medio de la suciedad, aunque el hotel no está mal, cuando sales de el, se te cae el alma al suelo, porque los aleda?os dan pena, por lo tanto no se le puede valorar mejor.

We had a wonderful 2 nights stay at Ballena Rey Hotel. We were greeted with a warm welcome by Gilberto who made us feel at home instantly. The customer service provided by Gilberto and his team was excellent. The units are spacious, the beds comfortable, a kitchenette fully equipped for meal preparation including microwave, fridge and hot plate. The entire unit was extremely clean. The property is beautifully landscaped with a pool to relax and unwind. The breakfast was plentiful with fruit, juice, tea/coffee, toast, eggs, rice & beans etc. The restaurant offers dinner and we enjoyed the local cuisine prepared by their staff. It is located a few minutes drive from the National Park. There are a few restaurants within walking distance to the hotel and many within a few minutes drive. It is a great location to stay when visiting Uvita or surrounding area.

De petite taille , car peu de chambres avec un très beau jardin et une piscine, cet h?tel est très sympa et cela ne se voit pas de la route. Le personnel est vraiment adorable. Les chambres situées en étage ont des marches assez hautes pour y accéder, si problème de motricité pensez à demander une chambre en rez-de-jardin.

This hotel is run beautifully - so clean and organized. We really appreciated the manager, Gilberto, who shared great information about things to do in the area. The free breakfast is delicious with several options, so multiple day stays don’t get tedious. The pool is clean and refreshing. They also just started serving dinner and cocktails. One night we ordered room service for dinner and it was very flavorful and tasty! I really appreciated the laundry service - they wash and dry a nice size bag of laundry for a reasonable price. Will definitely return to Ballena Del Rey should we visit Uvita again! ??????

This is a really nice new hotel in Uvita , which is centred around the Ballena Rey National Park. Friendly staff as ever in CR , nice rooms , nice pool and good value for money. Good breakfast too. The area around the National Park doesn't offer much in terms of bars and restaurants , (and its a bit far to walk) , nor does Uvita in general , but we ate at Carlito's , a Mexican cantina just 200 yards from the hotel which was superb in every respect , the best meal and hospitality of a three week holiday.
